The Fundamentals of Residency, Citizenship and Tax.
Residency is the act of staying in a given place. It may either be a village, town city, or even a country. It is hard for a major city or a country be occupied only by the natives. There are certain factors that influence the residency. Citizenship is the state of a belonging to a given state. A citizen is a legally recognized member of a state
Citizenship can be acquired through a number of ways. A baby automatically becomes the citizen of the country where they have been born in. The citizenship of a country can be acquired through adoption. The third way by which one can become a citizen of another country is through a process known as naturalization. This happens when a non-citizen request to become a citizen of a given country. The fourth ways to acquire a citizenship of another country is through international treaties. This is however rare in the modern world. There is a privilege provided by some countries allowing their citizens the chance to be dual citizens.
People move from one place to another for various reasons. The across border movements are also included. A person may choose to stay in a particular area for a number of reasons. The availability of employment opportunities is one of the factors that affect residency. Perhaps this is the most common reason why people become residence of a place. Job transfers is another cause of change of residence.
The desire to further your studies can be the reason why you move to another place and therefore becoming a resident there. A person might be forced to live in a foreign country in pursuit of knowledge. For example there are very many students from around the world that end up staying in the United States after completing their studies. These students may even end up acquiring the citizenship of the country via naturalization. War and insecurity can make a person run away and become a resident of another place. Moving out of a war zone will force you to settle in another different location hence becoming the resident of that place. Therefore, work, education, and war are the factors that influence the residence of noncitizens to a place.
Tax is basically money paid to the government. The tax money is not for buying any goods or services. It is the responsibilities of the citizens of a country to pay taxes. The payment of taxes is an obligation to all the citizens of any country. Governments also expect all the working noncitizens to also pay their taxes. The tax paid by the citizens is different from that paid to the other residents. These are some of the privileges that the citizens of a country enjoy. The government will then use the collected money for governance. Various services are provided by governments using these funds.
